A soft and timeless boutique retreat in the heart of Safed’s Old City
In the heart of Safed’s Old City, this boutique couple’s suite underwent a complete transformation from the ground up, with the goal of creating a calm, harmonious, and timeless space — one that bridges the existing architectural constraints with a refined and cohesive design language.
The suite’s walls, which originally suffered from uneven textures and depth variations, were refinished with mineral Arava plaster in a soft natural tone, creating a warm and seamless envelope throughout the space. Ceiling height differences were carefully addressed using softened rounded profiles combined with concealed lighting, transforming a functional necessity into an integral architectural feature.
In the kitchen area, the wall depth variations were utilized to create a dominant arched niche finished entirely in plaster, becoming a central focal point within the public space. In the bedroom, another arched niche was designed in an intimate spa-inspired atmosphere, continuing the same soft and rounded visual language.
Behind the bed, a sculptural wall element was created using softened profiles, while the curved upholstered headboard was custom-designed to echo the same radius and architectural rhythm throughout the suite.
A combination of natural tones, warm concealed lighting, mineral plaster, and soft textiles creates a harmonious and coherent atmosphere — one that offers a sense of tranquility, understated luxury, and intimate hospitality in the unique surroundings of historic Safed.
