Makeover for a House in Jerusalem

When Clients Want to Enjoy a Vacation Experience All Year Round!

A home in Jerusalem with plans for extension. The owners had vacationed at a tzimmer (vacation rental) in Tzefas that I designed and were so charmed by the design that they wanted to “transplant” it to their apartment back home. The main challenge was the many columns and beams, which a healthy dose of creativity turned from an eyesore into a work of art. The beam in the kitchen was turned into a broom closet, while the beams in the dining room defined the plasterwork plans. One of the clients’ main objectives was to be able to host their married children comfortably, so in addition to designing two bedrooms with attached baths, I included a telescopic wall in the dining room so that the sofa area can be closed off into a bedroom when necessary.

Random fact on interest: Due to COVID, the entire house was designed remotely, via a flurry of email exchanges containing my professional, accurate work, digitally signed plans, and detailed shopping lists.
