Dramatic Interior, Rustic Exterior, and The Feeling You’re Floating on Clouds
An exposed rooftop overlooking a magnificent view was slated to be converted into a luxurious vacation rental. Blending the decor with the enchanting clouds was a given. The headboard was placed inside a wall niche for drama, and the addition of built-in lamps creates a warm and cozy atmosphere. Wall-to-wall curtains complete the bedroom’s inspirational look. The bathroom, designed with a spa vibe, is characterized by a warm palette, with the light fixtures on the central wall creating an unusual composition. The color scale includes monochromatic shades of greige, black and stone, with touches of gold and walnut.
The porch, which is more like an observatory deck, called for a “plot twist” as far as the design. The intoxicating view of the forest valley and the delightfully clean air wafting in from in begged for a softer, more rustic look than inside. We used oak-colored herringbone tiles and installed a pergola with exposed wooden beams singed with a burner. Upscale garden furniture that makes you feel you’re sitting on a bed of clouds completes the experience.
